[Baseball] McKenzie Named To 2017 ABCA/Rawlings-NAIA Gold Glove Team

Kansas City, Mo. – Junior pitcher Matthew McKenzie (Oak Forest, Ill./Marist) represented Saint Xavier University on the 2017 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings-NAIA Gold Glove Team when the honorees were announced by the NAIA national office Wednesday afternoon.  The nine-member team, as selected by the NAIA Baseball Coaches Association All-America Committee, recognizes players across the nation for their defensive success during the 2017 campaign.  The last time that the SXU baseball program had a player named to the NAIA's Gold Glove team was 2007 with former standout outfielder Tony Testin.  McKenzie was the lone pitcher on this year's team and owned a perfect fielding percentage (1.000) behind 19 assists.

CHICAGO --- For the second time in the ten-year history of the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference All-Sports Cup standings, one point has separated the top two league members.  Aided by no less than a share of five regular-season titles, seven second-place finishes and one conference tournament title, Olivet Nazarene University captured its eighth cup in as many years and ninth overall by edging out University of St. Francis, 136.5-135.5.
